Details

Castle Habsburg

Habsburg Castle is the eponymous ancestral seat of the Habsburgs. It was here that their brilliant rise began in the Middle Ages until they ruled an entire empire. If the legend is to be believed, it was quite by chance that the Habsburgs built their ancestral castle in Habsburg in the early 11th century. Count Radbot is said to have lost his goshawk here while hunting in 1020 and to have found it again on the site where the castle stands today. He immediately realised that the site was suitable for building a castle. The location on the Wülpelsberg with a view of the river crossings of the Aare seemed to him to be favourable, and so he had a symbol of power built in the form of Habsburg Castle, which was visible from afar and from where the Habsburgs developed into a world dynasty.

Castle Wildegg

The castle domain Wildeggthront majestically sits on a hill and you can see from afar what special features await you here. Founded in the 13th century by the Habsburgs and later inhabited by the von Effinger noble family, the castle is now a residential museum, surrounded by an imposing garden complex with utility, pleasure and rose garden.

Castle Lenzburg

1000 years of living history. Since the 12th century, not only counts, dukes and bailiffs have lived at Lenzburg Castle, but also a German poet, an English aristocrat and an American adventurer. Time and again the waves of great political events and history have struck its walls. In 1986 the castle was extensively restored and has been open to the public ever since.

Castle Hallwil

In the Aargauer Seetal, only a few minutes' walk from Lake Hallwil and surrounded by the Aabach, you will find one of the most beautiful moated castles in Switzerland. The imposing castle complex extends over three islands and nestles attractively in the surrounding recreational area.
