Details
Wasserschloss
The area in the triangle of Brugg, Turgi and Klingnau is known as the moated castle of Switzerland, where the three rivers Aare, Reuss and Limmat merge shortly after each other at the Gebenstorf district of Vogelsang and flow into the Rhine as the Aare near Koblenz.
Klingnauer Reservoir
More than 75 years ago the Klingnau reservoir was created. Since then the landscape around the lake has developed into a popular recreational area. The reservoir was created during the construction of a power station in the 1930s, and is now a nature reserve and an important habitat for endangered bird species. It is about three kilometres long and 500 metres wide at its widest point.
Geissberg at Villigen
Characteristic is the Chamere rock, a rock face about 200 metres wide, which gives the Geissberg a special character. The highest point lies at around 700 metres above sea level and is easily recognisable by the radio tower built in 1993. One of the special features of the Geissberg is a large colony of chamois that inhabit the area. This colony of chamois is the only one in Canton Aargau apart from the one in the Wasserflue area.
